Botulinum toxin

BOTOX® Cosmetic creates a softer, more youthful appearance!
This popular, non-invasive procedure is particularly effective on such areas as crow’s feet and frown lines on the bridge of your nose and forehead. Botox is also used to treat hyperhyrdrosis (excessive sweating). BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet in people from 18 to 65 years of age. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines to form over time.
How does Botox work?
Repeated facial muscular contractions such as frowning and squinting form lines known as dynamic wrinkles. Botox Cosmetic works by relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, and giving the face a more relaxed and refreshed appearance. Botox Cosmetic is an injectable treatment derived from a purified protein that actually works on the nerve endings at the muscle to prevent the muscle from contracting. The procedure is so quick and simple that patients can often have it done on their lunch hour!
Where do you inject Botox?
Botox Cosmetic can be used to treat frown lines, foreheard worry lines, crows feet, nasal bunny lines, peri-oral lip lines, horizontal and vertical neck lines, the corners of the mouth and depressed brows and more. The treatment only relaxes the muscles beneath the wrinkes at the injection site, so the other elements of facial expression remail active and you will still look natural.
How long does Botox last?
The effects of Botox Cosmetic usually last 3 to 6 months, at which time another treatment is required. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.
Is Botox a filler?
Botox does not fill facial lines. Botox Cosmetic relaxes the muscles underneath the skin that cause frown lines and wrinkles.
Are there any people who are not good candidates for Botox?
People who tend to have problems with their nerves or muscles that causes weakness, probably shouldn’t have Botox. Also, Botox is not to be used during pregnancy or breast feeding.
