Thread lift

What a thread lift?

A thread lift, often called the “lunch time face lift” is a minimally invasive procedure designed to raise the brows, cheeks, neck, jowls and soften lines around the mouth and nose. Thread lifts are extremely effective for reducing the early signs of aging, and they produce lasting, natural looking results. Thread lifts are recommended for younger and middle aged patients who are not yet ready for a full facelift. A thread lift is not appropriate for patients with a large amount of loose, excess skin around the face and neck. The best candidates are men and women who are just beginning to experience the effects of ageing.Patients who choose this course of treatment can usually postpone or eliminate the need for facelift surgery. A thread lift can be combined with other dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections by Dr Mooney for optimum results.

The procedure

During a thread lift procedure Dr. uses a fine needle to loop fine threads beneath the skin. The threads are inserted in a transverse pattern, where they can be raised and adjusted in order to lift the skin to a more flattering position. Each individual thread is attached to the tissues of the face, and over time, the threads become secure as the bodies own collagen begins to anchor them into place. As a thread lift only requires a tiny opening in the skin, there is little or no scarring following treatment. The end result is a subtle, but noticeable improvement in facial contour.

What Areas Can Be Treated with PDO Thread Lift?

The PDO thread lift is very versatile, allowing practically all areas of the face to be treated, including the:

  • Undereye area
  • Eyebrows/fox eyes
  • Crow’s feet (wrinkles around eyes)
  • Cheeks
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Naso jugal folds
  • Wrinkles around mouth
  • Jaw line
  • Jowls
  • Neck

What’s involved in a ‘fox eye’ treatment?

If you’re looking to change the shape of your eyes, there are two different approaches that can be used: a non-invasive option and an invasive (surgical) option. “Non-invasive involves the injection of fillers and threads to elevate the brow,”. The use of threads has become a popular option, as it creates a temporary aesthetic change that can last up to two years.

“In the 25 to 40 age-group, some women want a temporal brow lift (for those that have a ‘heavy forehead’) – but this requires a surgical option. Therefore, you need to take great care as this is a permanent option. I always advise patients that trends are temporary, so it’s ideal to choose a look that will personally suit you for a long time.”

Who is the best candidate for "designer eyes"/fox eyes?

It’s important to keep in mind that these types of procedures aren’t exactly one-size-fits-all, and the type of approach used to obtain a certain aesthetic eye look all comes down to the individual patient.
When it comes to women like the Kardashian/Jenner girls, their ethnic origin is Armenian and therefore they often have deep set eyes, and a fairly natural low medial brow and a high arched lateral brow to start with. They have minimal fat in their orbit (eye socket). And their skin tends to have a higher degree of collagen which makes them ideal candidates for having threads fox lift

However, European women with Anglo Saxon heritage have skin that tends to lose collagen earlier, therefore the threads option doesn’t always produce the same seamless finish.
Everyone’s anatomy is different, and everyone’s face has a different shape, so (similar to Kylie Jenner’s lips) the ‘fox eyes’ look may not suit everyone.
